PRIORITIZE YOUR HEALTH THIS MONTH. AAA CAN HELP.

APRIL 1ST, 2021

April 7th marks the celebration of World Health Day, a tradition that started more than 70 years ago. While health providers and organizations use this day to bring attention to important health issues such as heart health, mental health and climate change, you can use it to identify your own health goals, and then to identify activities that will help you work toward them long after the day is over. With support from our discount partners, here are a few tips to help you get started.

Identify One Area of Your Life You Wish To Improve

It’s easy to use big occasions such as New Years' and World Health Day as motivation to change several aspects of your life. While we applaud your enthusiasm, we encourage you to identify one major facet of your life you want to improve. It could be as simple as getting your vision checked or ensuring you take your prescribed medications as instructed every day. By choosing just one thing, you can give that thing your undivided attention and achieve maximum results.

Set Out To Create Positive Habits, Not Changes

Once you pinpoint your area for improvement, aim to create a positive habit. Don’t just focus on results, though. For instance, if you vow to increase heart health, think of ways you can achieve this. Will you need to move more? Eat better? Engage in more stress-reducing activities? Whatever your goal, download an app on your Samsung device that can help you track your movements, inform your diet, guide your meditations, etc. Use a calendar app or reminders to schedule new habits into your life. Finally, use the notes feature to keep track of all the positive behaviors you engage in throughout the day. If you don’t have a device that supports these apps, use your AAA membership to get up to 30% off Samsung products.

Reward Yourself

If you’re like most people, you’re setting out to change lifelong habits. This is no easy feat. For each habit you establish or goal you achieve, reward yourself. While a pat on the back is nice, you may be more motivated by something tangible, such as a nice dinner out, a new outfit or pair of shoes, even a mini vacation. If you feel guilty splurging on yourself for doing something you should have been doing all along — prioritizing your health — use your AAA membership to reward yourself at a discount. By giving yourself real rewards, you will be more motivated to keep up your good habits long into the future, and until they become a way of life.

This year it’s more important than ever to prioritize your health. If you haven’t already done so, celebrate World Health Day by doing just that.
