OCTOBER IS AAA CAR CARE MONTH

OCTOBER 14TH, 2021

After a year like 2020, which seemed to drag on forever, 2021 is flying by. With fall in full swing, winter will be here before you know it. While the seasons have a way of creeping up on you, you don’t want to be so blindsided that you’re stuck with a vehicle that’s ill-equipped to handle the snow or any other adverse driving conditions Jack Frost sends your way. To make sure your car, truck or SUV is road-ready this winter, take steps now to prepare it for the cold months ahead. To celebrate what we’ve officially dubbed as “AAA Car Care Month,” we have partnered with leading brands and service providers to bring you discounts and deals on car maintenance and care services.

Inspect and Change Your Tires

When getting your vehicle ready for the winter ahead — whether you live in San Diego, Sarasota or Chicago — pay extra attention and care to your tires. Your tires are responsible for everything from supporting your vehicle’s load to transmitting traction and braking forces to the road’s surface. In short, they are what keep you grounded and safe.

This month, inspect your tires’ tread and pressure yourself or, better yet, take your vehicle to a AAA Approved Auto Repair facility, where members save a minimum of 10% on repair service labor. The AAA-approved shop can give you a professional opinion regarding the safety of your tires, rotate them to ensure optimal safety and recommend weather-appropriate tires.

Get a Brake Check

We’re not talking about brake checking the next driver that tailgates you but rather, about taking your vehicle into a AAA Approved Auto Repair Shop. You can use the AAA Approved Auto Repair locator to find a shop near you, or you can Google your nearest AutoNation. Right now, AutoNation is offering all AAA members 15% off parts and labor through December 31, 2021. Though there is a $150 cap on the discount, brake inspections typically cost less than $150 total, and you can apply the discount toward any pads, rotors or calipers you may have to buy.

Check On Your Heat

It’s been a while since you’ve cranked up the heat in your vehicle and you cannot know for sure whether it still works or not. The time to find out is now, and not during your morning commute or, worse yet, when you’re on a holiday road trip to see friends or family. If your heat isn’t working, or if you notice that it’s operating at half capacity, take it into a shop to get it fixed before the first bad storm blows through.

Change Your Fluids

Finally, change your fluids. The oil and antifreeze are the top two you should concern yourself with in the coming months. October is car care month and you can use your AAA membership to save 20% off online or in-store purchases at NAPA AUTO PARTS stores.

At AAA, we just want you to be safe while out and about. Regardless of where you live, take time this October to get your vehicle winter-ready. Use your AAA membership to make this to-do a little less of a financial burden.
